Lifestyle Search: Intracoastal Waterway

The Intracoastal Waterway system in southeast Florida was created in the early 1900’s to enable ships to travel the coast without needing to head into the ocean waters. With numerous inlets from the ocean, the Intracoastal has become a virtual paradise for fishing, yachting and water sports enthusiasts.

West of Palm Beach Island lies the Lake Worth lagoon which creates a large separation from the main land of West Palm Beach and provides beautiful views of the lakes blue waters. At the bottom of Palm Beach County is Lake Boca, where the Intracoastal widens and lets out to the ocean. Lake Boca lies in front of The Boca Resort and has a large sand bar on the east side of the water becoming a weekend gathering for boaters in the area. The Intracoastal is made up of rivers, lakes and canals and so extensive that it creates its own lifestyle and way of living in South East Florida.

Along the Intracoastal Waterway are many canals where people can own homes with ample room to park their boats in the back of their properties. Living the Intracoastal lifestyle provides water views, the smell of salt water in the air, and allows for easy boat ownership and use. Whether you want to do deep water fishing in the ocean or tour the waterways nature sanctuaries, you’ll enjoy the convenience of having a waterfront home on the waterways.
